Submit a post to the Public Gallery (and how the 24-hour quota works)
The Public Gallery is Primfeed's homepage feed, and you add a post to it by flipping the "Submit this post to the Public Gallery" switch in the post settings before you publish. Submitting gives your post the most reach on Primfeed, but each picture you submit counts against a rolling 24-hour quota, so the gallery stays fair for everyone.

A few things to know up front: only posts that have at least one image or video can go to the gallery, and the quota counts posts, not pictures. A post with three pictures shows up as a single tile and uses one of your slots, unless you choose to show each of its pictures separately.
Submit a post to the Public Gallery
Start a new post and add at least one picture or video (the gallery options stay locked until you do).
Click Next to move to "Post settings" (Step 2 of 2).
In the left-hand list of sections, open Public Gallery (under the Media group).
Turn on the "Submit this post to the Public Gallery" switch.
If your post has more than one picture or video, you can also turn on "Show each picture separately", explained below.
Click Publish (or Schedule, if you set a scheduled time).
That's it. Your post will appear on Primfeed's homepage gallery.
Tip: The Public Gallery options are greyed out until your post has at least one image or video attached. If you can't find the toggle, go back to Step 1 and add your media first.
How posts with several pictures appear
A post with several pictures takes a single tile in the Public Gallery, showing its first picture only. A badge in the top-right corner, like +2, tells you how many more pictures the post holds.
On a computer, hover over the tile to browse its other pictures without leaving the gallery: use the left and right arrows, or pick one from the thumbnails along the bottom. The badge then shows which one you're on, like 2 / 3.
Click the tile (or tap it on a phone or tablet) to open the post in full screen at the picture the tile shows, with all of its pictures as thumbnails underneath.
In full screen, the arrows (or your keyboard's arrow keys) go through the post's pictures, then carry on to the previous or next post in the gallery.
A profile's Gallery tab and albums show posts the same way.
Show each picture separately
If you'd rather give each picture of a post its own tile, turn on "Show each picture separately" in the Public Gallery section of the post settings. The switch appears once your post has at least two pictures or videos.
It applies everywhere the post shows up as tiles: the Public Gallery, your profile's Gallery tab and albums.
In the Public Gallery, each picture then counts towards your quota: a post with three pictures uses three slots instead of one.
You can use it without submitting the post to the Public Gallery. It then only changes how your profile and albums show the post, and uses no slots.
Important: In the Public Gallery, the pictures of a post shown this way must not be duplicates of each other, as defined in the Terms of Service. Otherwise, a moderator will remove this option from your post, and you won't be able to turn it back on.
How the 24-hour submission quota works
The Public Gallery panel shows a live line like "2 of 4 pictures already submitted within the last 24 hours", plus a progress bar. Here's what's behind it:
The quota is counted per post, not per picture: a post uses one slot however many pictures it holds, and the panel counts that slot as one picture. The exception is a post that shows each picture separately, where each picture uses a slot. Before you publish, the panel tells you exactly how many a post will use, e.g. "This post will add 1 picture to your quota."
It's a rolling 24-hour window. Your slots aren't reset at midnight: each post you submit "ages out" of the count 24 hours after it went in.
If you have no free slots left, Primfeed blocks the submission until a slot opens up.
Turning on "Show each picture separately" for a post that's already in the Public Gallery checks your quota again, so you'll need enough free slots for its pictures.

The "Next slot" timer
As soon as you have a submission in the 24-hour window, the panel shows a countdown like "Next slot: in 3 hours 20 minutes". This is the moment your oldest submission ages out of the window and frees up its slot (or all of its slots, for a post that shows each picture separately), so the timer counts down to when your earliest submission is exactly 24 hours old.
A rule worth remembering
Non-commercial content that has been generated or altered by AI is not allowed in the Public Gallery, and posting it there can get your account suspended.
