Give a post its original date

Bringing older pictures or products to Primfeed? With Primfeed Pro, the Uploaded date setting gives a post its original date, so it appears at that date in feeds, in your gallery and in albums instead of showing up as new.

The uploaded date is a Primfeed Pro feature, also included for a page with an active paid Primeasy subscription. See Primfeed Pro.

A post normally carries the date you published it. When you bring older pictures, looks or products to Primfeed, you can give a post the date it really belongs to instead. It then appears at that date in feeds, in your profile's Gallery tab and in albums, among the posts of that time, rather than at the top as a brand new post.

Date a new post in the past

  1. Start a new post and add your media and caption as usual, then click Next to reach Post settings (Step 2 of 2).

  2. In the left-hand list, under the Premium heading, open Uploaded date. Its subtitle reads Now until you give the post another date.

  3. Turn on the Date this post in the past toggle.

  4. In the Uploaded date (SLT) field, pick the date and time the post should show.

  5. Click Publish.

Use your picture's own date

When you turn the toggle on, Primfeed fills the field with the date of your post's first picture: when it was taken, if the file records it, or else when the file was last modified.

The file's date is only suggested for a picture you've just added in the editor, and only when it fits the dates you can pick (see below). Otherwise, the field starts at the latest date you can pick.

Which dates you can pick

  • Earliest: June 1, 2003, when Second Life launched.

  • Latest: 24 hours before now for a new post. The uploaded date is meant for older content, not for moving a recent post around.

Like scheduled posts, dates and times are in SLT.

Change the date of a post you already published

  1. Open the post's ⋯ menu and choose Edit my post.

  2. Click Next, then open Uploaded date. Its subtitle shows the post's current date.

  3. Turn on Date this post in the past, or change the date if it's already on, then click Save changes.

To give a post back the date it was uploaded on, turn Date this post in the past off and save.

What others see

The post shows the date you picked, everywhere. On a computer, hovering over that date also shows Uploaded on … with the date and time the post was really uploaded.

Good to know

  • No Public Gallery. A post dated in the past can't be submitted to the Submit a post to the Public Gallery, so it never uses any of your quota. Show each picture separately still works for your profile and albums.

  • Not with scheduling. A post is either scheduled or dated in the past. See Schedule a post to publish later.

  • If your subscription ends, your posts keep the dates you gave them, and only changing a date needs Pro again. The 90-day editing window of a Free account counts from the day you uploaded the post, not from the date you gave it.
