Add a poll while creating your post

Polls are set up in the post composer, on the second step where all the post settings live.

1. Start a new post and write your caption as usual. When you're ready, click Next to move to Step 2 of 2.

2. In the left-hand list of settings, open the Poll section.

3. Turn on the Add a poll to your post switch. The subtitle reminds you how many choices you're allowed ("Up to N choices").

4. Type your question in the Question field (up to 255 characters).

5. Fill in your answers under Choices. You start with two empty boxes, Choice 1 and Choice 2.

6. To add more answers, click + Add a choice. To remove one, click the ✕ next to it.

7. Set the Expiry date (SLT): this is when voting closes. The time is entered in Second Life time (SLT). It defaults to one day from now.

8. Finish your post as normal with Publish (or Schedule, if you set a scheduled time).

Choices: how many you can add

• Every poll needs at least 2 choices.

• The maximum depends on your plan: Free accounts can add up to 2 choices, and Primfeed Pro accounts can add up to 6. See Primfeed Pro.

How voting and unvoting work

Once your post is published, the poll appears inside it with your question, each choice, a live vote count, and a progress bar showing each choice's share of the votes.

• Cast a vote: anyone viewing the post clicks the choice they want. A check mark appears next to the option they picked, and the counts update.

• One vote per person: each resident gets a single vote. Clicking a different choice simply moves your vote over, it doesn't add a second one.

• Unvote: click the choice you already picked to remove your vote. The check mark disappears and your vote is taken back out of the totals.

• Results are always visible: the vote counts and percentages show whether or not you've voted yet.

• When the poll closes: after the expiry date passes, the poll switches to Final results and no one can vote or unvote anymore.
