Create your first post

A Primfeed post is a photo or video from Second Life, shared with a caption to the people who follow you. Creating one is a quick two-step flow: you add your media and write a caption, then choose a few settings (most importantly a maturity rating) and publish. This guide walks you through it from start to finish.

Open the composer

  1. Look at the top of any Primfeed page for the New post button (the feather icon, top-right). Hover and you'll see the tooltip "Create a new post."

  2. Click it. The composer opens on Step 1 of 2, titled "New post."

Tip: If you also manage a store page, the post is created for whichever account is currently selected in your sidebar. Switch accounts before you open the composer if you want the post to come from your store.

Step 1: Add a photo and write your caption

This first step is where you compose the post itself.

  1. Click "+ Add a picture or a video" to pick a file. You can also drag and drop an image onto the composer, or paste an image straight from your clipboard.

  2. Add up to 4 photos or videos per post. Accepted formats are JPG, PNG, and WEBP images, plus MP4, AVI, and WEBM videos.

  3. Write your caption in the text box.

  4. Wait for each file to finish uploading. If a file is still uploading, you'll see "Uploading media…" and you won't be able to continue until it reaches 100%.

  5. Click Next to move to the settings step.

Tip: On the free plan, photos are uploaded at up to 1500×1500 and each file can be up to 50 MB; videos can be up to 45 seconds long. Primfeed Pro raises these limits considerably. See Photo and video limits (free vs Pro) for the full breakdown.

Mention someone with @

To tag another resident or a store in your caption, type @ followed by their name. After you type at least 2 characters, a suggestion list appears. Pick the person or store you mean, and their name becomes a clickable mention in your post. They'll be notified that you mentioned them.

You can also add #hashtags, and paste SLURLs which turn into tidy links automatically.

Tip: While most of the formatting for your posts are reserved to Primfeed Pro members, mentions, hashtags, and links work on every plan.

Step 2: Set your maturity rating

Clicking Next takes you to Step 2 of 2 "Post settings." A maturity rating is the one setting you must choose before you can publish.

  1. In the left-hand list, the first item is Maturity Rating.

  2. Pick the rating that matches your content: General, Moderate, Adult, or Adult+. Each option shows a short description of what it covers.

  3. If a rating looks greyed out, that means it isn't enabled on your account yet. As the panel notes: "If the maturity rating is greyed out, you need to activate it in your settings." You can raise your maximum rating in your content settings, see Content filters: maturity, AI and reposts.

  4. When you're happy, click Publish.

A rating is required. After publishing, you'll see a confirmation toast, "Your post has been posted," with a View post button to jump straight to it.

Tip: Getting the rating right isn't optional. Repeatedly mis-rating your content can lead to your account being suspended. When in doubt, check Primfeed's Maturity Rating.

What else is on the settings step?

You don't need any of these to publish your first post, but they're worth knowing about. On the settings step you can also:

  • Submit to the Public Gallery to show your post on Primfeed's homepage for more reach, additional rules applies, see Submit a post to the Public Gallery (and how the 24-hour quota works).

  • Add a poll so people can vote on your post.

  • Tag it as commercial (with optional AI or 3D-render labels) if you're advertising a product.

  • Link EasyBloggers products, if you're a blogger associated with a store.

  • Add it to an album to keep your profile organized.

Comments policy and scheduling are also here, but those are Primfeed Pro features.

Tip: Most of the Media options (Public Gallery, Commercial, products, albums) only switch on once you've attached at least one photo or video, so add your media first.
